EuroMouse 2005 The EuroMouse conference was held in San Giuliano near Venice on 14 th and 15 th October. There were over 100 scientists present representing over 70 institutes across 17 countries within the European Union. In addition there was representation from industry, plus from the USA and Australia . EuroMouse brought together 15 European Union funded projects for the first time in one place. At this conference an international satellite event was held in conjunction with Canada . The simulcast announced the newly funded European Conditional Mouse Mutagenesis Programme - EUCOMM. This project is coordinated by Prof. Dr Wolfgang Wurst and Prof. Allan Bradley and is funded for €13million. This project is contributing to the North American counterpart - NorCOMM - coordinated by Geoff Hicks and funded for $20 million including $6.3M from Europe . Members of the press were invited to the first day of the EuroMouse conference and there was representation of several papers from 8 countries - they saw Dr. Octavi Quintana Trias and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wurst unveil the global effort in mouse mutagenesis - these mice will be available to a much wider community of researchers than has ever been possible before.
